Finding the new path

Finding the new path

Lately, I have been writing more than ever before. Working on books, gathering my reflections, developing new material, fine tuning my poems and finding different ways to share what I have learned and experienced over the years.

This is quite a different way of working from what I have been used to. And sometimes I drop into a path of thinking that this is a secondary work. Which I know truly, is not.

Sometimes I miss being involved in more technical and academic projects. Diving into research, analysing the climate challenges we all are facing, and exploring how we can genuinely change the way companies operate and take responsibility for their impact on our Earth.

Although I cannot say I miss all the methodologies and complexities that often come with this kind of work.

And when I occasionally look more closely at what people in the sustainability sector are working on today, I sometimes find myself feeling strangely uninterested.

I feel we have made certain things unnecessarily complicated. Thousands of professionals are spending enormous amounts of time on processes, systems and technical requirements, and I sometimes wonder whether all this effort is actually taking us where we need to go.

Perhaps that is an unfair judgement. But it is just something I find myself thinking about.

At the same time, I have discovered how much I genuinely enjoy writing. Creating something new from experiences, knowledge and reflections. Finding words for thoughts that have been developing in my mind for a long time.

So now I am trying to find a middle ground.

A way to nurture my academic curiosity and my interest in the real challenges of sustainability, while also giving creativity the space it deserves.

This is a new chapter for me. Different ways of working, a different focus, and almost every week brings something new.

And I actually find that quite nice.

I am not entirely sure how this combination will develop. But I enjoy allowing myself to explore it.

Perhaps I do not have to choose between being curious for advancements in the sector and creative.

Perhaps I am not moving away from sustainability at all. I am simply finding a new way to approach it.

So, I keep writing, like nobody is watching!

Be global and be kind,
