That Sustainability Spark

March 03, 20252 min read

Recently I wrote a few words on “Taming the Chaos” in the sustainability sector.

That “theme” resonates even better now than two weeks ago for today's Monday thoughts. Since the international scene has certainly been given a bit of confused energy. Most likely, many in the public sector are facing challenges and a chaotic atmosphere, both sides of the Atlantic.

When something hits you unexpectedly, you get blurred for a while. The obscured happenings in the Oval office last weekend didn't even seem reel. This madness, affecting so many, and not the least the millions of people working in the climate change arena.

Taming the dragon” is perhaps more appropriate to describe the situation. Where “a mighty leader” kept his strong center and inner peace while other dragons lost theirs, demanding attention so negative as it appeared.

In the fast-paced and at times chaotic world of sustainability, it's easy to feel like you're carrying the weight of the project alone. You feel the pressure to create meaningful change while navigating corporate structures and limited resources.

Therefore it is important to keep calm. Maintain inner strength.

Remember that even on days when progress feels slow, your work matters. The sustainability sector needs your fresh perspective, innovative thinking and commitment - especially during challenges like the past few weeks.

Three Small Steps You Can Take Today:

👉 Connect with a sustainability peer for a virtual coffee break - sharing your challenges builds community and reminds you that you're not alone in this work

👉 Take 15 minutes to document a recent win, no matter how small - tracking your progress builds momentum and confidence

👉 Choose one task from your overwhelming to-do list and break it down into actionable micro-steps.
