A story will live
A personal story has power.
Last week I attended a conference where the organizers provided a great selection of speakers, such a great memory and a marvelous gift.
One in particular was shining.
On the stage stood a young woman, sharing her childhood from Nepal.
Vulnerable, beautiful, unexperienced, sweet but strong as a bulldog 🔥
Let me explain in a bit. Believe me, there is a point.
My mind has this "ability" to only remember personal stories shared in conferences. If you shared something personal, from your heart, and truly, I will be more likely to remember you and your content. I believe many of us are like this.
Don´t get me wrong, I took notes, wildly, so I got the rest of the content, besides having the reply in few days. Highly valuable content in general, with deep info shared with the room.
Back to the gift.
Like mentioned, one of the speaker was Sumitra from Nepal. She shared with us her personal story of surviving child slavery from a carpentry. Difficult family situations and unbelievable circumstances.
Her story is a hero's journey, and she touched all of us with her courage and warmth.
The people in the sustainability sector in Iceland will hardly ever forget her story.
We will all recall her presence while working on our value chain in the corner of our daily task office life.
It was an important awakening to us all, to reconsider our buying patterns. To be aware of what we are buying, from whom. To seriously monitor our supply chain and report data to deliver that is secure and true.
In return, Sumitra receives from us all warm and heartfelt thoughts for years to come ❤️
We were amazed by her story, courage and beautiful presence. Wishing her fulfilled life and strength to inspire many more 🙏
Thanks to Festa to being such a great around wrapping entity for the sector in Iceland. Truly a valuable platform for us all.
A personal story, a human experience that will remain in our minds for a long time.
The story will live. This is also a message from the outstanding story-coach Lisa Bloom, who taught us story-telling in business at the ICF Conference last week on a very beautiful seminar.
So if you are leading a project in your company or life, and you need to leave impact then remember the power of a story that supports your message.
